Latest news on Cloth Diapers safety requierment from CPSIA
Dear customers
There's been a discussion in the Cloth diapers industry lately , specially in the USA. And Mia Bambina wants to share it with their customers.
If you haven't notice there is a controversy in WAHM business lately in the USA and this also mean in the Cloth Diapers business . If you haven't heard it, this is what it is about :
Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (CPSIA): 101(a)(2) – Lead Content Ban
the CPSIA imposes a lead limit on children’s products on February 10 2009. As written, the CPSIA defines all children’s products that do not meet a 600 parts per million (ppm) lead limit as ‘banned hazardous substances’ under the Federal Hazardous Substances Act (FHSA). The FHSA prohibits the distribution in commerce of any banned hazardous substance. The CPSC’s General Counsel has made it very clear that the CPSC believes the law requires all children’s products in the market, including resale, to be obligated to meet the law.”
This act , however will give a big impact on the small WAHM business as from now own each cloth diapers/toys must be tested to meet the CPSIA safety standard.
However, Mia Bambina just want to ensure the following brands that we carry already get the certification from the CPSIA :
Drybees diapers,
Wahmies diapers
Wahmies wipes
Wahmies and Drybees inserts
Thirsties products ( Included covers , diapers, wipes)
BumGenius from cotton babies*
Dream EZ, Wonder wrap, Pocket change.*
The rest of the brand that we carry ( that is originaly comes from the USA )will have the certification eventually , I will try my best to give the information for you.
However this is just an information only. And the CPSIA only will affect the USA based companies/brands. If you are concern of other brands of the diapers originated outside from the USA, you can contact the manufacturers.
If there is anything you want to know, I will try my best to help you. If you need to have/read the certificate from the mentioned brands , it will be available upon request
Take Care
*Certificate will be available soon
